Terms and conditions
Clear terms for a private journal.
Last updated: October 25, 2026.
These terms govern the Dialed iOS app and website. Dialed is offered and, where paid, sold by Protocol Works LLC, an Illinois limited liability company. By downloading, buying, or using Dialed, you agree to these terms.
What Dialed is
Dialed is a personal journal for recording information you choose to track. The app has no Dialed account. Your journal is an encrypted file in the app's storage, and the developer runs no server for your journal. Apple services, optional iCloud features, food lookup, purchases, website signups, and files you choose to share work as described in the privacy policy at https://dialedjournal.app/privacy.
Your license to use the app
Protocol Works LLC gives you a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to use Dialed on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these terms and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, sell, rent, reverse engineer, interfere with, or misuse the app except where applicable law allows it.
Dialed, its design, software, and branding remain the property of Protocol Works LLC and its licensors. These terms do not transfer ownership of them to you.
Your journal and your choices
You decide what to record and whether to use optional features. You are responsible for the information you enter, the choices you make from it, access to your device, and any backup or export you create.
The developer cannot retrieve your journal from a developer server and cannot reset your journal or iCloud copy encryption keys. Deleting the app, erasing data, restoring a device, sharing a file, and turning optional services on or off can affect where copies remain. Review the privacy policy before changing those settings.
Not medical advice
Dialed is a journal, not a medical device or health care service. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or dosing instructions. Do not use Dialed as a substitute for a qualified health professional or for emergency care. Contact a qualified health professional about medical decisions. For an emergency, contact local emergency services.
Purchases and Apple services
If Dialed offers a paid app, subscription, or in-app purchase, the price and billing period are shown before you buy. Apple processes App Store purchases through your Apple Account. Apple's rules govern billing, cancellation, and refunds.
Apple, iCloud, Apple Health, TestFlight, Open Food Facts, and any place you choose in a share sheet are separate services with their own terms. Protocol Works LLC is not responsible for a third-party service, but Dialed will describe when an optional feature uses one.
Beta software and changes
TestFlight builds are prerelease software. They may contain defects, change quickly, or stop working. Back up information you cannot afford to lose before relying on a beta.
We may update, add, remove, or discontinue app features. We may also update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, the updated terms will carry a new date. Your continued use after updated terms take effect means you accept them.
Acceptable use
Do not use Dialed or its website to break the law, infringe another person's rights, probe or disrupt the service, bypass security, distribute malware, or submit information you do not have the right to submit. We may limit access to website features or future services when reasonably necessary to protect Dialed, its users, or others.
Privacy
The Dialed privacy policy explains what the app stores, what can leave the phone, how optional Apple and third-party services work, what the website collects, and how deletion works. It is part of these terms. Read it at https://dialedjournal.app/privacy.
Disclaimers and liability
To the extent the law allows, Dialed is provided as available, without a promise that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. Some states do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so those exclusions may not apply to you.
To the extent the law allows, Protocol Works LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or opportunities arising from your use of Dialed. Any direct liability will not exceed the amount you paid Protocol Works LLC for Dialed during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where applicable law does not allow them.
Governing law
Illinois law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in a state or federal court with jurisdiction in Illinois, unless consumer law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
If one part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest remains in effect. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. These terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement about your use of Dialed, except for terms Apple requires for its services.
